Overall Role
As a Research Engineer at Innovation & Technology Extrusion Europe, with CAE as your technical focus you will work towards product and process development for our extruded products. You will be part of a highly skilled organization of researchers, with access to quality laboratories. Execution of development projects in close collaboration with Hydro Extrusions' commercial teams and customers, as well as other internal and external R&D units.
This role is for you who want an exciting job with great freedom and opportunities to develop in a research environment. You will work with various CAE-related tasks within R&D projects, including the simulation of Hydro's processes and products. In this position, you are expected to be involved in experimental testing in our R&D laboratory. You will also support product development projects with simulation tools for Hydro's customers worldwide. Furthermore, the position includes participation in collaborative projects with universities and research institutes.
In particular, the role includes:
• Member of the Dies, Modelling & Fabrication team
• Planning and execution of development projects including budgets and deliverables as a project manager.
• Working in close contact to Hydro Extrusions customers having a key role in translating customer needs to R&D.
• Build up professional networks incl. contacts towards Universities/Institutes and external research organizations
• Foster innovation spirit within the I&T EE team, and collaboration between I&T departments
Key Qualifications
• M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering, materials engineering, or a similar field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience within industrial/applied R&D, including management of projects
• You have experience working with metal forming processes.
• You have knowledge and experience in using FE simulation techniques in metal forming
• You have experience working with CAE tools, such as Altair Hypermesh, LS-Dyna, Impetus, Q-form, Solidworks, or similar.
• You have experience in material modeling and metal plasticity. Experience in predicting ductile fracture in material models is a plus.
• Experience within aluminium industry with knowledge towards crash management applications is a plus.
